Your shelf, your choice

Privacy policy

Draft for the Shelfstead beta · Last updated September 16, 2026

Launch note: This policy is a clear product baseline for the upcoming account and sync service. It must be reviewed with the final legal entity, providers, retention periods, and jurisdictions before public launch.

1. What Shelfstead stores

When you use Shelfstead, we expect to store the account details needed to sign you in, your library and series organization, reading sessions, settings, and support conversations you send us. Notes, quotes, and reading activity are private unless you choose a sharing feature.

2. Why we use it

We use this information to provide your library, synchronize it between your signed-in devices, recover your account, answer support requests, prevent abuse, and improve reliability. We do not sell your reading history.

3. Catalog data and providers

Book metadata may come from third-party catalog providers. A catalog search may include the search text and selected region so the provider can return results. Provider terms and attribution will be shown where required.

4. Control and portability

You can export your library and request account deletion. Deletion removes active account data after the documented recovery period, subject to records we must retain for security, billing, tax, or legal obligations.

5. Security

Account credentials should be protected with modern password hashing or an established identity provider. Sessions, service access, backups, and administrative actions will be restricted and monitored. No internet service can promise absolute security, so tell us quickly if something looks wrong.

6. Children

Shelfstead is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and remove it where required.

7. Contact

Privacy questions and requests can be sent to [email protected]. The final policy will name the legal operator and the applicable regional rights before release.

A quieter place for the books you mean to finish.
